Opposite the Ramana Ashram there are 3 chai shops. Now they found a new way to exploit the foreigners, they fill up the glass to the top and they ask 5 rupees. If you are Indian they put little less and they ask 3 rupees, that is the normal prize of chai in India.
So one day i said them, that i want 3 rupees chai, immediately they brought me but with the half glass, not like the 3 rupees they give to Indians.
This way they gave me the message that if you want to enjoy chai, you must pay 5 rupees.
Indians are so greedy, they want always more and if they see that you are foreigner they think that you are billioner, full of money, and they have to take them, or you have to give them as much as possible.
Some times i give them 10 rupees to pay the chai and they pretend that they dont have 5 rupees change and they give me 4. They say sorry i will give you 1 rupee next time. In this way they try to do two things, first they press you in subtle way to go to the same shop again and second they hope that you will forget the 1 rupee and they will take you from 1 chai, 6 rupees.
Somebody can say why you care so much, 5 rupees is only 10 eurocents? I just want to show the mentality of Indians and how is the situation in Tiru.
